Department of Infectious Diseases at University Hospital Zurich (USZ) and University of Zurich (UZH) supports early-career scientists transitioning to lead their own laboratory in virology and/or host-pathogen interactions. Selected candidates receive assistance preparing grant applications to SNSF, ERC, or Cloetta Foundation, and upon success will be invited to negotiate a five-year non-tenure-track Assistant Professorship.

Aufgaben

Chart unexplored territories in virology and/or host-pathogen interactions
Conduct experimental work and/or translational science
Teach and lead a research team
Develop internationally competitive research program addressing fundamental or translational questions in virology

Profil

Satisfy eligibility criteria for SNSF starting grants, ERC consolidator grants, or Professor Dr Cloëtta Foundation
Research outputs exceed doctoral contributions and redefine boundaries in the field
Expertise in: biology of viruses, immunopathology caused by viruses, immune responses to viruses, novel treatment strategies, novel vaccination strategies, or data science in virology
Ambitious investigator with clinical interest (physician scientist with infectious disease training preferred)
Research on clinically relevant viral pathogens particularly encouraged
