Excelsus Structural Solutions (Swiss) AG, located on the St. Johann Campus in Basel, is a highly innovative company offering unparalleled synchrotron-based characterization services to (bio)pharmaceutical companies and major IP law firms worldwide.

Aufgaben

Preparation of samples for XRPD, SAXS and complementary analytical techniques, including loading powder samples into thin glass capillaries under controlled conditions, accurate weighing of powdered materials, and preparation of microliter-scale liquid samples
Regular participation (1-2 times/month) in data collection sessions (beamtime) at various synchrotron facilities in Switzerland and abroad, primarily in Europe
Handling, storage and shipment of samples in compliance with operating procedures and completion of all related documentation
Professional planning and management of beamtime logistics for the Excelsus team
Development of innovative technical solutions for specific sample formats and customized experiments

Profil

BSc (minimum) or MSc (preferred) in chemistry, life-sciences, engineering or equivalent, completed with at least 3 years of practical laboratory experience
Strong understanding and experience of laboratory safety practices
Ability to work rigorously and autonomously with very high degree of accuracy and reliability
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks to meet internal and external deadlines
Strong customer-orientation mindset
Willingness to travel at least 1-2 times a month in Europe (typically for 2-3-day sessions)
Excellent knowledge of English (spoken and written)
Ability to manage and write technical documents
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
Eagerness to work in a dynamic start-up environment
Experience with XRPD and SAXS techniques (valued)
Practical experience in a (bio)pharmaceutical company with GMP/GLP regulations or ISO-certified environment (valued)
Very good knowledge of German (spoken and written) (valued)
Experience with laboratory and data management systems (valued)
Passion for developing scientific and technical solutions to address practical challenges (valued)

Workload: 80–100%
Start date: Q3–Q4 2026
