ICT-System-Engineer – Zürich | JobRevolt

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Zurich, comprising approximately 300 employees and students across more than 20 research groups, is seeking an ICT-System-Engineer. In this role, you will maintain IT infrastructure and provide on-site user support in close collaboration with the University's Central IT Department.

Aufgaben

Administration, maintenance, and 1st and 2nd-level support for local, institute-specific IT infrastructure (Windows, macOS, and Linux systems)
Setting up, monitoring, and ensuring data backups for servers, laboratory and instrument PCs, and selected workstation systems
User support for software solutions used at the institute
Providing support and guidance to users on IT tools and IT security issues
Participation in and coordination of small IT projects in collaboration with the Central IT Department
Automating and simplifying routine support tasks
Partnering with research groups on scientific IT topics such as cloud-based infrastructure, AI-assisted research workflows, and support for computational chemistry applications

Profil

Education in computer science at the level of an EFZ computer science apprenticeship (platform development specialization)
Vocational college degree in computer science is an asset
Several years of experience as a systems engineer desired
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Apple macOS, and Linux systems (client and server)
Ability, interest, and commitment to familiarize yourself with specific needs of individual research groups and users
Enjoyment of direct contact with users, strong customer and service orientation
Structured, solution-oriented, and independent work ethic
Responsible, communicative, and team-oriented person
Excellent written and spoken English skills (C1 level), German is a plus
